THE Ardattin Vintage Rally has raised €8,000 for Tullow Day Care Centre for the second consecutive year, with the cheque presentation taking place on 19 August.
The South Eastern Vintage Machinery Club, which organises the annual rally, has maintained a long-standing partnership with the day care centre that extends well beyond simple fundraising.
“We’ve been associated with the Tullow Day Care Centre going back a long number of years,” said Sean Carroll, chairman of the South Eastern Vintage Machinery Club. “They do such great work not alone in the area but surrounding areas as well. All their services are greatly needed in these times and people greatly appreciate it.” The fundraising effort is a collaborative undertaking between the vintage club and the day care centre. The centre actively supports the rally by selling tickets for the pre-rally cabaret held the night before the main event, where a raffle also contributes to the total amount raised.
On the day of the rally itself, staff from Tullow Day Care Centre operate the tea tent, providing refreshments to visitors. “That’s a big thing to provide tea and sandwiches and buns and everything from everyone there,” Sean explained.
The centre also provides practical support by supplying stewards for the event. “They gave us a big help out and we were delighted,” Sean added.
Laz Murphy, director of Tullow Day Care Centre, expressed the organisation’s appreciation for the funds raised during the cheque presentation.
“It’s a win-win for everyone,” Carroll said of the successful fundraising effort and the generous support from the community that helped reach the €8,000 target.
The partnership between the Ardattin Vintage Rally and Tullow Day Care Centre demonstrates how community events can effectively support vital local services while bringing people together around shared interests.
