Two chances for Carlow as Destiny and Laura compete for the Miss Ireland crown
Miss Carlow South Laura Coffey
CARLOW has not one but two finalists in the Miss Ireland competition, both competing for the coveted emerald crown.
Destiny Vaughan from Bagenalstown and Laura Coffey from Milford are both finalists, representing Carlow and Carlow south respectively. And both are looking towards the gleaming tiara, hoping to become the first Carlow winner of the pageant.
The two finalists follow in the footsteps of many inspiring women who have taken part in the competition, hoping to leave their mark and become Miss Ireland.

Destiny is 28 years old and works as a healthcare assistant supporting people living with dementia. She is also working toward her doctorate, having recently received her master’s from Queen’s University in Belfast.
In 2019, she founded Mind the Gap Ireland, where survivors of sexual assault could share their stories anonymously online.
Laura is 24 years old and is working as an autism class leader at St Laurence College in Dublin. She completed her master’s in education at Trinity College.
She is focused on autism awareness and is using her platform to raise money for sensory bags for children to help with emotional regulation. She has raised much needed-funds for St Laserian’s School and for other local groups.
The two hopefuls will compete for the coveted Miss Ireland at the finals on 21 November at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk.
Destiny and Laura are doing far more than just competing for the crown. The Miss Ireland competition has raised more than €400,000 over the last number of years for charitable causes. This year it is supporting Ronald McDonald House, which helps families deal with childhood illness and supports them through hospital admissions. Both Destiny and Laura have already begun to raise funds for the charity.
The winner of the Miss Ireland competition will not only take home the crown but will also represent Ireland in the Miss World competition 2027 in Tanzania.
