Two Carlow retailers have been recognised among Ireland’s Top 100 Stores by Retail Excellence, the country’s largest retail industry representative organisation.

Arboretum Carlow and Jysk in Barrow Valley retail park, Graiguecullen, were announced today as part of the prestigious Elavon Retail Excellence Awards selection.

Arboretum Carlow, located on a ten-acre site at Leighlinbridge, is the flagship of Arboretum Home & Garden Heaven, a family-run, award-winning garden centre and lifestyle destination founded in the late 1970s by Rachel Doyle. The centre combines a five-star garden centre, stylish home, gift, fashion and kitchen stores, outdoor furniture, and gardening accessories under one roof.

Jysk, the Danish-founded international retail chain specialising in home furnishings came to Ireland in 2019 and now operates 25 stores across the country.

The Top 100 stores are part of the Elavon Retail Excellence Awards, which were established in 1997 to promote best practice and encourage high standards in the Irish retail industry. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 15 November 2025 at the Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny.

Previous Store of the Year winners include Willow (Ennis), Garvey’s SuperValu (Tralee), TileStyle (Dublin), Applegreen (Dublin), O’Briens Wines (Limerick and Dublin) and Greenacres (Wexford).

Jean McCabe, CEO of Retail Excellence, said: “We are delighted to announce the top 100 retailers who are shaping the future of Irish retail in the Elavon Retail Excellence Awards 2025. These businesses exemplify retail excellence through outstanding service, performance, and innovation at a national level.” She added: “Their commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and embracing new ideas continues to raise the standard for the entire industry, particularly at a time when retail is evolving rapidly in response to shifting consumer behaviours, economic pressures, and digital transformation.”
