FOR OVER two decades, the generosity of the people of Carlow and beyond has supported children when they need it most and raised in excess of half-a-million euros!
This year marks the 20th anniversary of local vintage tractor group Carlow to Cork Tractor Club, donating over €52,000 in 2024 alone and €579,135 in total over 20 years to CHI Crumlin.
The €52,000 raised last year will be used to purchase a Nouvag liposuction and infiltration system at a cost of €16,878 and a pathology bandsaw costing €18,733, along with donations of €5,666 to the Children’s Heart Centre, €5,666 to neurology and €5,666 to paediatric dermatology, medical tower 2.
Founder of Carlow to Cork Tractor Club Brendan Byrne thanked all those involved and spoke of the enormous impact the charity is having.
“With the continued kindness and generosity of our supporters across Ireland and beyond, we will continue to support the patients, families and staff in Children’s Health Ireland Crumlin – today, tomorrow and in the future,” said Brendan.
In 2024, for the first time, the Carlow to Cork Tractor Club used Circle K’s renewable diesel MilesBIO HVO100 in their vintage tractors to help reduce emissions on their annual journey from Carlow to Cork. This reduced CO2 emissions by up to 85%.
Carlow to Cork Tractor Club was set up in 2005 with a mission to raise much-needed funds for Crumlin’s sick children and has continued to do so for 20 years.
