THE craic was absolutely mighty when the Fighting Cocks GFC hosted a ‘Lip Sync’ battle to raise funds for a special team.

From Pitbull’s to Johnny Cash’s , a whole gamut of songs were performed by the ten teams that took part.

Fr Jim O’Connell was a big hit with his rendition of Cash’s classic song, while the junior ladies team donned shades and bald wigs to impersonate Pitbull.

“It was such a fantastic night – everyone got involved, so we had great fun,” said Louise Bolger, secretary of the ladies’ club.

The event, hosted by Tullow Rugby Club, was to raise funds for the Fighting Cocks club and also to help pay for the under-15 girls team to travel and compete in the all-Ireland féile after winning the county title. An impressive €17,000 was raised for the two causes through a series of events, including the Lip Sync challenge, a table quiz, a bake sale and through sponsorship.

“The community were phenomenal with their support. They really got behind us,” said Louise.

The Fighting Cocks GFC would like to extend its thanks and gratitude to all of the sponsors who gave so generously to the club.
