Shock at passing of Mary Wynne

A MINUTE’S silence was observed at last Thursday’s meeting of Carlow Municipal District as a mark of respect to Mary Wynne, who worked tirelessly with Carlow’s Local Enterprise Office.
Ms Wynne (née Byrne) of 54 Castlewood Gardens and formerly 17 Springfield Drive, Carlow passed away unexpectedly on Friday 18 October at her home.
Cathaoirleach cllr Fintan Phelan said Ms Wynne “was a colleague” to all members and that “she was gone too soon.” The cathaoirleach added: “We would like to extend our sympathy to her family and colleagues across the enterprise office and the local authority.”
This week, the Local Enterprise Office also paid tribute to their dear friend and colleague. “With heavy hearts, we heard the devastating news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Mary Wynne. For over 18 years, Mary touched the lives of countless people who called Enterprise House their business home, always extending kindness and care to everyone who walked through our doors. She would try do something for everybody and her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed.
“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with her parents, son, daughter-in-law, beloved grandchildren, brothers, sisters and extended family and friends during this incredibly painful time. RIP.”
Ms Wynne is survived by her son Darren, her parents Harry and Betty, grandchildren Jack, Alex and Leah and siblings Catherine, Paula, Dorothy, John, David and Niall, daughter-in-law Emma, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends. Ms Wynne was laid to rest on Tuesday 22 October in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow following requiem Mass in the Holy Family Church, Askea.
