Rath’s Londis store in Carlow town wins retail award

WILLIE and James Rath’s Londis shop on the Pollerton Road, Carlow has just scooped a top award in recognition of its excellent food quality and customer service.

The family-run store is one of the most popular shops in Carlow town, thanks to its ever-fresh deli area, in-store bakery and top quality meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.

A major redevelopment of the shop is now being completed after a substantial investment by the family.

They travelled to Gorey, County Wexford to attend the Londis Retailing Excellence Awards 2025, held recently at the Seafield Hotel & Spa Resort. The event, hosted by BWG Foods, owners and operators of the Londis brand in Ireland, recognised the outstanding achievements in retail excellence of Londis’ nationwide network of community retailers.

Organised in partnership with independent evaluators Solution Management Associates (SMA), the awards celebrate Londis retailers who have demonstrated exceptional standards in areas such as fresh food quality, product range, store presentation and customer service. Each winning store underwent a comprehensive assessment to ensure they met the highest benchmarks in Irish convenience retailing.
