CARLOW-born fashion designer Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra had been accused of fraud by financier Chris Durnan and was ‘harassed’ by him in the days before she was found dead on his boat, according to text messages obtained by the New York Post.
The 33-year-old Hamptons swimwear entrepreneur was found unresponsive at the Montauk Yacht Club on 5 August 2025.
On 1 August 2025, Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra had told her business partner Dylan Grace that she would unblock Mr Durnan and meet with him after he had received a slew of messages from him alleging financial misconduct by the pair.
Mr Durnan had bought roughly 13% of their East x East company in 2022 for $250,000.
The next day, on 2 August, Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra complained to Mr Grace that the investor was messaging her repeatedly, according to the New York Post.
Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra died two days later after meeting Durnan on his boat.
Mr Durnan has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with her death and he has also denied any involvement.
Ten days ago, Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s family filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against Mr Durnan in Manhattan Supreme Court.
“For months prior to that meeting, Martha had him blocked from messaging and only unblocked him at the request of her business partner to try to assuage Durnan’s complaints about the business,” Mike Bowe, a lawyer representing Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s family in their suit against Mr Durnan, told the Post.
“She agreed to meet him. She died at that meeting.”
