AN ENTHUSIASTIC crowd gathered at the Fairgreen Shopping Centre on Tuesday 25 February to mark the launch of Carlow Parent Hub, a website designed to provide parents and caregivers across the county with a central point for information and support.

The launch included a live broadcast of The KCLR Daily with Brian Redmond, where the radio host interviewed several contributors involved in the project.

Carlow Parent Hub (www.carlowparenthub.ie) offers a countywide services directory, details on local events and parenting resources. The initiative was developed with funding and support from Tusla’s Prevention, Partnership and Family Support Service (PPFS), Carlow Children and Young People’s Services Committee and the Carlow Child and Family Support Network (CFSN).

According to Tusla’s senior CFSN co-ordinator for Carlow, Aisling Reade, this ‘one-stop support’ for parents and caregivers aims to simplify how families access key information. “It makes perfect sense to provide families across the county with vital information in one location,” she said.

During the live broadcast from the Fairgreen, Ms Reade shared insights into how parents can benefit from the new directory. Presenter Brian Redmond then spoke with foster carer Mary Mulligan and Yvonne Lowry, regional fostering campaign co-ordinator, about Tusla Fostering, one of the many services featured on the new website.

Several local service providers were also on hand at the launch event to offer guidance, including St Catherine’s Community Services Centre, Barnardos and Carlow Regional Youth Services. With the new hub now active, Carlow families can find a wealth of parenting supports in one convenient online location.

One of the upcoming events listed on the site is a free wellbeing workshop delivered by Mental Health Ireland and hosted at St Catherine’s.
