This weekend is expected to be wet and windy, according to Met Éireann.

Friday will be generally dry and bright across much of Leinster and Ulster with plenty of sunshine.

Some spells of sunshine also in Munster and Connacht, but with scattered showers too, some heavy.

The showers will move a little bit further eastwards in the afternoon, but will become isolated. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in mostly light to moderate south to southwest winds, fresher in western parts.

It will be dry to begin on Saturday with a few bright spells early on in the east. However, it will become increasingly cloudy from the west, with rain and drizzle moving into west Ulster, Connacht and west Munster.

The rain and drizzle will gradually spread southeastwards across the rest of the country through the afternoon, and there'll be some heavier bursts in the west.

Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees, and it will become windy with south to southwest winds increasing fresh to strong and gusty, with gales on western coasts.

Met Éireann said a mobile Atlantic regime will dominate for the rest of the week and into next week too, bringing a continuation of unsettled weather.

A wet and blustery start to the day with widespread outbreaks of rain on Sunday.

The rain will clear the west and northwest later in the afternoon, with drier and clearer weather following for the evening. Rain will be heaviest and most persistent in Munster and south Leinster with spot flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in fresh to strong southwesterly winds.

Indications for Monday currently suggest rain may linger over the southeast with drier and brighter conditions elsewhere, with sunny spells and scattered showers that will become isolated through the day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light westerly winds.
