Met Éireann has issued yellow rain warnings for Cork, Kerry, and Waterford this weekend.
The weather service said that the warning will take effect in Cork and Kerry between 5pm on Saturday and 5am on Sunday, with "spells of heavy rain with the possibility of a few thundery downpours", as well as localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
The warning for Waterford will be in place from 8pm on Saturday until 8am on Sunday, with the same forecast.
There are also wind warnings in place off Ireland's coasts from Friday at 11pm until 8am on Sunday. It is expected that winds will reach gale force 6 or higher.
Otherwise, the general forecast for Friday is mainly dry and cloudy, with limited bright or sunny spells.
Saturday is forecast to be "a dull and breezy day", with scattered outbreaks of rain in the west and southwest at first, gradually spreading northeastwards across the country through the day.
The rain will then turn heavier in the south and southwest by Saturday evening.
Saturday night will be wet and blustery with heavy and persistent rain becoming widespread early in the night, with thundery bursts and spot flooding possible. Rain will clear from the west and southwest by morning.
On Sunday, heavy rain will develop in the north and east at first, with further thundery falls and spot flooding possible. The rain will clear northeastwards through the morning, followed by sunshine and showers from the southwest, some of which may turn heavy.
