Significant restrictions on Luas Red Line over bank holiday weekend

There will be significant restrictions to Dublin's Luas Red Line services over the May bank holiday weekend due to essential engineering works.

Transdev, which operates the Luas, has recommended that passengers check the Luas app, as well as its website and social media channels, for details of the restrictions.

The changes to the Red Line are in place from Saturday, May 2nd, until the bank holiday Monday, May 4th.

Trams are only running between Heuston and The Point, with no tram service between Tallaght/Saggart and Heuston.

A replacement bus service is to operate every 15 minutes, servicing affected stops, but with some restrictions.

A valid Luas ticket, Leap Card or Public Services Card with free travel is required to use the replacement bus service.

Passengers travelling between Tallaght/Saggart and Heuston in both directions will need to change over bus at the Red Cow Luas stop.

Dervla Brophy of Transdev told Newstalk that there will be "a limited tram service from Heuston down to The Point."

Red Line services in the city centre will be further impacted on Sunday due to the Dublin City Half Marathon.
