Man in his 70s dies in Tipperary house fire

A man in his 70s has died in a house fire in Co Tipperary.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Carrigeen housing estate, Clonmel, at around 6pm on Sunday.
The alarm was raised by neighbours who spotted what they believed was a fire in the house.
Cahir and Clonmel-based fire units attended the scene and brought the blaze under control two hours later. It was then that they discovered the body of an older man inside.
The scene has been sealed off by gardaí to allow for forensic and technical examinations to be carried out.
In a statement, gardaí said that the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
“His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford (UHW), where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Garda investigations are underway into the cause of the fire.
