A baby has died after a crash in County Louth.

The child has since passed away at Children's Health Ireland, Temple Street in Dublin, after the collision on the R123 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk last Saturday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the two-car crash.

The baby was a passenger in one of the cars.

The female driver of the first car, aged in her late 20s, was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the second vehicle (aged in his early 50s) and the female passenger (a teenager) were removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A technical examination of the scene was conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7:50pm and 8:20pm are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
