Ministers Donohoe, Burke and Carroll MacNeill to address Carlow business conference

Fine Gael's small business conference will take place at SETU Carlow.

FINE Gael will hold its fourth Small Business and Enterprise conference at South East Technological University (SETU) in Carlow this Saturday 27 September, with three government ministers attending to engage with local business owners.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke, and Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill will participate in the event, which comes ahead of Budget 2026 preparations.

Carlow-Kilkenny Deputy Catherine Callaghan said the party has consistently supported small and medium enterprises throughout challenging periods including Brexit, Covid-19, and US tariffs.

“Fine Gael has always supported and recognised the valuable role that SMEs play in the Irish economy,” Deputy Callaghan said. “Throughout difficult periods including Brexit, Covid and US tariffs, Fine Gael in government has worked closely with the sector to ensure their continued success both here at home and abroad.” The conference will feature a panel discussion on business supports including Minister Donohoe and Nicola Doyle, owner of BarrowBrew in Milford. Minister Carroll MacNeill will participate in a separate discussion focused on innovation and healthcare.

The Fine Gael Women’s Network will also convene at SETU Carlow on Saturday, marking the first time the network has met alongside the business conference.

“The Network has a significant impact in shaping policy, and the future of politics in Ireland both at a local and national level,” Deputy Callaghan said. “Members of the Network are committed to achieving gender equality and to motivating and supporting young women to participate in politics and encourage those who wish to take leadership roles within the party.” Previous small business conferences have proven popular with the business community, party members, and the public. Deputy Callaghan said Carlow’s selection as host venue reflects SETU’s important role in regional economic development.

“I look forward to engaging with business leaders and community members to ensure that small businesses in the South East have the resources they need to thrive,” she said.
