CARLOW County Council hosted a night of celebration in the magnificent town hall last week, where nine recipients were lauded and received this year’s Mayor’s Awards.

In his opening address, mayor of Carlow cllr Fintan Phelan praised all award recipients, describing it as a great honour to be there as mayor and a privilege to present the awards.

“Carlow is a wonderful place to live, work and play. There is a great community spirit and that is thanks in no small way to the achievements and work of many individuals, communities and voluntary organisations,” he said.

“I feel it is important that I, as the mayor, and the council, as our lead civic authority, formally recognise those achievements. It was that guiding reason that I introduced these awards in 2017, and I am delighted you could all join us this evening for the 2025 awards,” said cllr Phelan.

“A huge congratulations and thank you to each of you. Carlow is a better place because of your efforts. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir, agus comhghairdeas.” Fiona Byrne, senior executive officer at Carlow County Council, also conveyed huge congratulations to all award recipients.
