CARLOW Lions Club launched its annual Christmas food appeal for St Clare’s Hospitality Kitchen on Monday 25 November at St Mary’s Academy CBS. The food appeal will take place over the first two weekends of December at Dunnes Stores, Tesco, Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Rath’s Londis, and SuperValu, Sandhills Shopping Centre.
Over the past 30 years, the Lions Club has delivered more than 600 food hampers at Christmas to people and families in need throughout Carlow. Its mission is to deliver a hamper of essential food items, along with some festive treats, to as many households in Carlow as possible in the days leading up to Christmas.
Carlow Lions Club is asking the public to support this worthy cause by donating non-perishable food items at various collection points. The club also accepts cash or card donations.
Club president Tom Clowry said: “We at Carlow Lions Club are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Carlow people who have continued to support this project over the past 30 years. It is through this continued support that we, together with our partners, can once again this Christmas provide some comfort to those in need.” Fr John Dunphy of St Clare’s Hospitality Kitchen said: “St Clare’s Hospitality is delighted to join with Carlow Lions Club and St Vincent de Paul in the Christmas food appeal. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Carlow, we are able to make up hundreds of hampers., All of us are working together to help families who are struggling this Christmas.”
