House fire claims life of Carlow town man

Carlow fire services and gardaí attend the scene of the fire in Mount Leinster Park Carlow.

A 45-year-old man has died following a house fire at Mount Leinster Park, Tullow Road in Carlow Town, yesterday, Sunday.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.40am on 19 October. Carlow Fire Brigade confirmed to The Nationalist that it had attended a house fire in town as did An Garda Síochána, who both responded to the scene.

The man, who is said to have lived at the property on Mount Leinster Park housing estate with his partner, was alone in the house at the time of the incident.

He was treated at the scene before being transported to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny where he passed away on Sunday evening as a direct result of injuries sustained in the fire.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed to The Nationalist that the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
