COUNTY Carlow Hospice chairman Paul Doogue admitted he was “blown away” by the final amount raised at an afternoon tea party in Killeshin Hall recently.

The Galligan family along with a number of volunteers came together to hold a fundraiser for the hospice in memory of Siobhan Galligan, who sadly passed away in the hospice last year. A staggering €13,300 was raised from the tea party, with more than 200 sitting down on the day.

“It was lovely to be part of it all and to be able to get up and speak about the hospice and explain to all what we do with money raised,” said Paul.

A total of just €19,000 has been raised by the Galligan family in the past year for the hospice with the help of Siobhán’s husband Martin, their family and friends.

“The generosity of the people will never cease to amaze me,” said Paul, “and the hospice committee are so appreciative and grateful for all who support us in any way.”
