Irish car sharing service GoCar has partnered with Enterprise House in Carlow to provide two shared vehicles for local businesses and entrepreneurs that use the co-working space.
The partnership, announced today, will see a VW Taigo and Nissan Qashqai made available at Enterprise House, which is operated by Carlow Community Enterprise Centres CLG as part of the Connected Hubs initiative.
The service is designed to give businesses using the hub flexible access to vehicles without the costs associated with owning and maintaining their own fleet. Enterprise House is home to 28 companies employing 150 staff.
Joe Quirke, head of GoCar, said the partnership would make transport “smarter and more affordable” while supporting sustainable travel options for enterprises and entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses.
Kieran Comerford, director of Carlow Community Enterprise Centres CLG and head of economic development at Carlow County Council, said tenants at Enterprise House are passionate about sustainability.
“Having car sharing available on-site is just one step we can take to support greener transport solutions - not just for our tenants, but for the wider community,” he said.
Carlow Mayor, cllr Paul Doogue, welcomed the initiative as part of the council’s wider sustainability agenda. He encouraged businesses, remote workers and individuals across Carlow to use the service, describing it as “a practical and affordable option that supports our goal of reducing emissions and congestion in the town.” Connected Hubs is Ireland’s national network of over 300 remote working facilities. The addition of GoCar vehicles to the Carlow hub joins existing sustainable transport options including e-bikes provided by Bolt.
