Five decades of community service will be celebrated

St Catherine's Community Services Centre is celebrating its 50 anniversary this week

SAINT Catherine’s Community Services Centre will mark a double milestone this week, celebrating its 50th anniversary alongside the official opening of a new extension to the facility.

The celebration will take place on Thursday 11 September at 1.30pm at the centre on St Joseph’s Road, Carlow. Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley will officially open the new extension and join in recognising five decades of community service.

The anniversary event promises entertainment for all ages, featuring family-friendly activities, children’s games and a live performance by local group Crush on Choir.

“The new extension demonstrates the commitment of St Catherine’s board of management, staff and volunteers to continue developing community services and supports for those who need them for many years to come,” said Catherine McCarthy, coordinator for the centre.

The celebration aims to recognise the contributions of all those who have supported the centre’s work over the past 50 years while looking ahead to the future of community services in the area.

The afternoon event is free and open to all community members and families.
