The late Darren Quigley.
THE PARENTS of Carlow man Darren Quigley, who was murdered by his former partner, have spoken out following her sentencing at the Central Criminal Court last week.
Darren’s devastated parents Tony and Michelle Quigley said he was a kind-hearted son, father, brother and grandson who did not deserve to have his life “taken in such a way” and described the pain they have endured in the wake of his murder as one “that will never be eased”.
Sabrina Kehoe (40) stabbed Darren to death outside his home in Market View, New Oak Estate, Carlow on 21 October 2024 while she was serving a suspended sentence for breaking into his home and beating his then partner unconscious with a pickaxe handle in 2022.
In a statement issued to , Darren’s parents made reference to the “sleepless nights, the nightmare, the walking of the floors and going through therapy that we all had to endure.” “The pain I have from losing Darren will never go away and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody,” Michelle said. “A mother should never have to bury her son in the way I had to.” Darren’s father Tony spoke of how Darren will never get to experience or be part of the lives of his daughters Ava and Erica.
“They are so talented, Ava loves singing and dancing and playing football and Erica loves playing soccer and football,” Tony said. “Darren will never see their birthdays, communion, confirmation, them participating in any of their activities or even walk them down the aisle. He would have been so proud of them,” he added.
