Man with 68 previous convictions fined over Carlow town public order incident
DAVID McCormack, Rutland Terrace, Bennekerry, Carlow was fined €250 after he was found intoxicated in public in Carlow town in the early hours of St Stephen’s Day.
Carlow District Court heard that Garda Dunne had been called to Willow Park shortly after midnight on 26 December 2025 in relation to a separate incident, when the defendant came to his attention. Garda Dunne noted that the 40-year-old Mr McCormack was very intoxicated at the time and was “unable to put together clear sentences”. He was arrested for a section 4 public order offence.
The court heard that Mr McCormack was issued with a fixed-charge penalty notice, which he failed to pay, resulting in a summons being issued.
Mr McCormack, who has 68 previous convictions, was not present in court. Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted him of the offence and imposed a €250 fine.
