Man pleads guilty to seven counts of criminal damage

A MAN pleaded guilty in Carlow District Court last week to seven counts of criminal damage, which were all carried out on the same day at addresses in Crossneen Manor and other locations in Graiguecullen.

Four properties damaged

Brian Kelly (19) pleaded guilty to charges of damaging four properties at Crossneen Manor, Leighlin Road, Graiguecullen as well as at two addresses in Maryborough Street and one address in Chaff Street, all on 17 April. He also admitted to being intoxicated at Leighlin Road on the same day.

Gardaí received a phone call

Sergeant Hud Kelly told the court that gardaí received a phone call about a man wearing dark clothing and causing damage to cars at Maryborough Street and that further damage was caused at the other locations. He continued that they found Mr Kelly with blood on his hands and he told them his name.

Gathering up funds

Solicitor Alex Rafter told Judge Geraldine Carthy that his client was gathering up funds to pay back the injured parties. Solicitor Joe Farrell added that he was representing a number of the injured parties and that they were aware of Mr Kelly’s intentions.

Judge Carthy adjourned the matter until 24 September to give Mr Kelly, Heatherfield, Mulgannon, Wexford town, enough time to gather up some funds.
