VINTAGE car enthusiasts descended upon Duckett’s Grove recently for a very successful Carlow Vintage and Classic Motor Club Annual Show.

The two-day show kicked off with a parade through Carlow town from the Woodford Dolmen Hotel.

Around 400 cars took part in this year’s event, with members of vintage clubs from all over Ireland taking park and even some from Wales. This year’s event had a fantastic turnout of 2,000 people.

Club secretary Brian Redmond explained the attraction of the Carlow event to exhibitors.

“Carlow is unique; it’s quite central and pretty easy to get to, but the big draw is Duckett’s Grove. It’s a great venue,” said Brian.

The event is known for looking after the exhibitors with minimal fees, plenty of refreshments and a little gift to mark the day.

There were around 40 volunteers on the day who

ensured the event’s success.

It was also a great chance for vendors to set up stalls, while there were loads of entertainment for the family, too.

The Carlow Vintage and Classic Motor Club has around 250 members, and there are a good smattering of young people getting involved in the pastime.

“They bring a bit of everything, some 90s cars. They have a trend of inheriting the taste of the cars of their parents,” said Brian.

The next event for the club will be a memorial run in November.

The club is a very social one and is out attending various vintage runs every weekend, most recently along the Copper Coast in Waterford.
