Carlow’s SexyTadhg features in new TG4 series on Gen Z

Tadhg Ó Grífín aka SexyTadhg, is among 12 young people featured in TG4’s new documentary series Glúin Z

CARLOW-BORN performer Tadhg Ó Grífín, known professionally as SexyTadhg, is among twelve young people featured in TG4’s new documentary series Glúin Z, which offers an intimate look at life for Ireland’s Generation Z.

The series, which provides what TG4 describes as “a unique, honest and entertaining look at life here in Ireland today,” follows young adults from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the challenges of independence, career decisions, and relationships in modern Ireland.

SexyTadhg appears in episode three, which focuses on identity and self-expression among Gen Z. The episode explores how Tadhg came to understand themselves through music and performance, with the artist using gender-neutral pronouns they/them.

“Tadhg really got to know themselves when they started writing music and performing on stage,” according to the series description.

The documentary comes during a breakthrough year for the Carlow artist, who has been making waves in the Irish music scene. Recent achievements include opening for The Mary Wallopers on an 18-date UK tour and multiple national television appearances.

SexyTadhg performed at Electric Picnic this past weekend and has been recognised by The Irish Times as one of their '50 to watch.' The artist recently released a single titled Ceannasacht, which blends jazz and neo-soul with entirely Irish language vocals, aiming to reintroduce queer identity to the Irish language.

The performer has also appeared locally at both Carlow Pride festival and Carlow Arts Festival, bringing their distinctive sound to home audiences.

Glúin Z follows twelve participants including university students, business owners, and public figures as they tackle issues ranging from the housing crisis and cost of living to personal challenges and environmental concerns. The series aims to give insight into how this generation is determined not just to adapt, but to shape their own future.

The documentary series is currently airing on TG4, offering viewers insight into the digital, unpredictable world of Ireland’s Gen Z through the eyes of young people like SexyTadhg who are making their mark across various fields.
