Carlow performer, Darragh O'Connor to tour Ireland and UK
Darragh O'Connor, aka Fenix is playing a free gig on 16 November in Scraggs Alley, Carlow ahead of a national and UK tour
CARLOW musician Darragh O’Connor, who performs under the name Fēnix, will support electronic music duo Lebrock for part of their upcoming Ireland and UK tour.
Darragh will be the supporting artist for Lebrock’s shows in Dublin on 22 November, Manchester on 11 December and Milton Keynes on 12 December, alongside fellow electronic music artist WolfClub.
Before joining Lebrock on tour Darragh will play a free concert at Scraggs Alley in Carlow on 16 November. He describes his music as a blend of 80s-inspired nostalgia and contemporary alternative pop.
These performances coincide with the release of his new single which he wrote from his hospital bed in Rome while very unwell with a perforated bowel and acute appendicitis.
The song is inspired by his wife Madeline’s support during that time. Darragh was formerly part of the bands Beef Supreme and Exiles before going solo in 2022. Exiles enjoyed a degree of national recognition – performing at the Electric Picnic festival and other high-profile slots. Hailing from Carlow town, Darragh has built up his business in the music industry and runs the Youngblood Music Studio from his home. He also launched the Youngblood Sessions and Open Mics, initiatives he started to give emerging local artists a platform. Through those gigs he helped to spotlight artists Just Alice, Asophonics, Maryann and Sitting Room.
