CARLOW’S vibrant food scene took centre stage recently as celebrity chef Rachel Allen joined some of the county’s top culinary talents for a memorable live cookery demonstration.

Held at the Seven Oaks Hotel the event served as the official launch of Carlow Restaurant Week which finished earlier this month.

Two hundred guests enjoyed a three-course cookery showcase accompanied by freshly baked breads and local cheeses. Each dish drew inspiration from Carlow’s rich food heritage and was crafted by chefs renowned for their passion for local produce.

A fully equipped display kitchen and professional audiovisual support ensured every attendee had a clear view of the culinary action as Rachel shared her expertise throughout the demonstrations.
There was a great turn out for the event while chefs participating in Carlow Restaurant Week also attended. They included Cian Waters from Waterlilies Restaurant, Caolán Prendergast from Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Jamiul Alam, New Moon Indian Restaurant, John Carey, Seven Oaks Hotel
The food demonstration marked the official launch of Carlow Restaurant Week which featured a diverse lineup of events delivered by the thirteen members of the Carlow Food Network, ranging from themed afternoon teas to gourmet tasting experiences and ‘meet the maker’ showcases.
Each participating venue also offered a special Carlow-inspired dish, including The Rooster Booster Soup at Goodly Barrow Café, Eggs Con Tomate at Waterlilies and lots delicious dishes at the other participating venues.
All proceeds from Rachel Allen event were presented to Michael Walsh, manager of the Seven Oaks and of the Carlow Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal in association with Carlow St Vincent de Paul.
