THE allocation of new homes at Ballyknockan Manor in Leighlinbridge has been pushed back further, with entrance works now underway that will delay the handover process.

While the 37 units at the housing development are completed, entrance works that began on Monday 9 June will take several more weeks to complete.

“Works have commenced on the entrance on Monday and it’s going to take between two and three weeks to swap over the old entrance to the new entrance,” said Tadhg Madden, assistant executive officer for housing, Carlow County Council.

The council is organising tenancy training for the end of June, but Mr Madden said there would be additional delays beyond the completion of the entrance works. “It could take a few weeks after the works are completed until finally we see people moving in,” he said.

The update represents a change from assurances given in May that new residents would receive their keys within “two to three weeks” once the final contract was signed.

Based on Mr Madden’s timeline, the entrance works should be completed by the end of June or early July, with tenancy training scheduled for late June.
