A CHEQUE for €27,110 was formally presented to suicide prevention charity Pieta House two weeks ago, following a hugely successful fundraising night held in memory of the late Sharon Brennan from Killeshin.
The money was raised at the event in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow on 21 January, which drew more than 700 people for an evening of conversation, remembrance and hope.
Sharon, who was deeply loved by her family and community, tragically died by suicide in 2025.
The cheque was formally handed over on Thursday 26 February in an emotional presentation attended by Pieta CEO Stephanie Manahan and fundraising manager Sinead Ronan Wells, who expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of community support.
Speaking on behalf of the family and the organising committee, Sharon’s husband Paul Brennan said the response on the night had been overwhelming.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown on the night. To raise €27,110 in Sharon’s memory is truly special. It was a wonderful way to honour her life while supporting such an important service. The atmosphere on the evening was one of warmth, hope and community spirit.”
The funds will go directly towards Pieta’s free counselling and support services for those affected by suicide and self-harm, services that Paul has spoken about with deep, personal gratitude. The family extended its thanks to all who attended, donated, sponsored, volunteered or helped in any way to make the night a success.
