THE generosity of the people of Carlow has once again come up trumps, raising a terrific €9,429.14 for the local hospice.

A concert held a few weeks before Christmas in aid of the County Carlow Hospice was a huge success as hospice chairman Paul Doogue explains.

Local musician Ollie Hennessy and entertainer John Candy, the duo behind the very successful Follow Me Up to Carlow series of concerts, approached Paul and said they wanted to do a fundraiser for the hospice.

“The concert was called Follow Me Up to Carlow and businesses and individuals sponsored the concert and bought tickets. I was blown away by the generosity of businesses and individuals and I’d like to thank all who supported this wonderful cause,” said Paul.

“The concert was held in Visual and all the staff there were so helpful. A number of acts performed on the night and all directed by Ollie Hennessy, with John Candy as MC.

“An outstanding figure of €9,429.14 was raised for the hospice. I can’t thank the people of Carlow and surrounding areas enough for the continuous support they give the hospice,” said Paul.
