Volunteers honoured for their long service to Éire Óg club 

ÉIRE Óg Carlow GAA Club honoured four of its longest serving volunteers for their “invaluable services to the club” in a special appreciation night on 26 October.

Joan Hennessy, Caroline Kenny, Nancy Rea and Helen Walker have all volunteered at the club, preparing and serving food and drinks, setting up and cleaning up after big parties and events as a part of the catering crew for over 40 years.

The event was organised by club official Bernie Tallon who also gave a speech outlining the exceptional contributions that these women have made over the years.

The invitation to the party said: “These amazing ladies have supported our teams, coaches and committees time and time again - often at the drop of a hat - and it’s time we return the favour!” On the night each woman received a bouquet of flowers in a vase and a large handmade card made by Louise Mahon, thanking them for their service.

Musician Tom Hayden, who regularly plays at various events and parties for the club, came to play music for their special night.
