OVER 50 bright and talented students were awarded when Tullow Community School hosted its annual awards ceremony recently.
Students from last year’s junior and leaving certificate classes were recognised for their hard work and commitment to the school community by being presented with certificates.
The top students in each school subject were recognised, as were the two students, Óisin Ward and Ella Byrne, who achieved the best results in the leaving and junior exams, respectively. Certificates for social awareness and community spirit were presented to Kate Kinsella and Ben Shannon.

Teachers Mairéad Gray and Michael Morrissey, along with secretary Lorraine Byrne, organised the event which also included the proud parents of the award-winning students, former principal Christopher McQuinn, former deputy principal Tim Moriarty and cllrs John Pender and Brian O’Donoghue.
Past pupil, accountant Carol Coughlan was the guest of honour and she presented some of the awards after giving an inspiring speech.
The awards ceremony usually takes place in September and was put back to January this year, so it was even more eagerly anticipated than ever, with last year’s leaving certificate students returning to their alma mater to be presented with their certificates. The evening ended with refreshments.
