THE COMMUNITY of Goresbridge revved up last Christmas to not only create a wonderful spectacle for the town but raise vital funds for a school very close to their hearts.

The ‘Light Up the Parish’ tractor run saw dozens of vehicles decked out in their Christmas finery for the event, held in aid of Saplings School, Goresbridge. Recently, the incredible proceeds from the run – a total of €11,628.85 – were presented to the school.

“We are very grateful for all the hard work and commitment from the Light Up the Parish run team and the participation of the local and surrounding communities,” said Sandra Wickham, principal of Saplings Goresbridge.

“The funds raised will be used to enhance the school environment and will enable the children to access community activities which they would not otherwise get the opportunity to do,” she added.

Saplings Goresbridge welcomes children aged four to 18, providing education and supports to pupils with autism and complex needs.
