PULLING TOGETHER TO SAVE LIVES

Pat Comerford, Toore; Paul Palmer, Ballyouskill; and Pat Sweeney, a proud Achill man now living in Kilkenny, are embarking on a mission where the trio plan to row their Achill currach on a couple of voyages. Stage one starts at Maganey lock to Borris lock, stage two commences at Achill Sound and finishes at Dereens. The much-anticipated public launch of the Currach was held in the Castle Arms hotel, Durrow on 7 June. It provided an opportunity for everyone to have a closer look at the boat and meet the builders involved. This novel event is being run to benefit Teac Tom and Achill Island RNLI from funds raised.
