PRESENTATION COLLEGE Transition Year student Anna O’Toole took part in the Accenture All Girls STEM Academy, held in the Accenture offices at Grand Canal Dock recently.

Anna and her fellow participants in the academy were given the opportunity to hear from different speakers within STEM throughout the week, with lectures on interesting topics such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The Accenture STEM Academy was set up to encourage more teenage girls to choose STEM subjects for their Leaving Certificate, with the aim of pursuing a university course or career in the industry later in life.

During the week, Anna got to meet Dr Michelle Cullen, who is head of inclusion and diversity at Accenture Ireland, where they spoke about the Accenture Women on Walls campaign at University College Cork.

This was of particular significance to Anna, as Nano Nagle, who founded the Presentation Sisters religious order and was a pioneer of education in Ireland, is one of the subjects of the campaign at the Cork university.
