Pres College Carlow students recognised in school awards night

PRESENTATION College, Carlow held its annual school awards ceremony recently which recognised the outstanding achievements of its pupils throughout the academic year.

Awards were presented to students by principal Ray Murray in a host of different categories, including academic, sport, music, languages and more.

Principal Murray emphasised the importance of awards ceremonies in school communities and said they were occasions to pay tribute to the students and teaching staff for all their hard work and commitment throughout the school year.

The prestigious and highly coveted student of the year awards, which are reserved for third and sixth-year students and are voted for by staff members, were awarded to Seamus Bible (senior) and Belle Harris-Byrne (junior).In sport, Chloe Ryan was awarded senior female sportsperson of the year, with Roisín Murphy taking home the prize for junior students, while sixth-year student Lorcan O’Connor was chosen as senior male sportsperson of the year, with Ben Nolan receiving the junior award.There was also a senior international sportsperson award, which was given to Jack Woods for his success at international level in cycling. Oisín McMahon the recipient of the junior award, thanks to his exploits in karate.Music plays a big role in day-to-day life at Presentation College and recipients of the awards in this category were Keeva Delaney and Lauren O’Reilly at senior level and Eva Bogdan and Belle Harris-Byrne at junior leveJamie Grogan was the recipient of the Bridín Quinn award while the CEIST award, which honours students in the school who best demonstrate CEIST values and ethos, was awarded to Shonagh O’Connor.
