Lights, camel, action! Bigstone National School shines on show night
The pupils enjoyed every minute of it!
BIGSTONE National School lit up the stage in December with a Christmas spectacular titled “Lights, Camel, Action!” Despite a few dramatic twists before curtain call, the pupils delivered a show that will be remembered for years to come.
In true showbiz fashion, the performance nearly didn’t go ahead. With several pupils out sick and an unexpected electricity outage in the area just hours before the show, teachers and families braced for disappointment. But Christmas miracles do happen and the power returned just in time, and the cast rallied with festive determination.
Once the lights came up, the all-singing, all-dancing ensemble took to the stage with confidence and charm. The audience was treated to a delightful display of acting talent that set the tone for an evening full of fun. The Junior Room melted hearts with a sweet and gentle rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle” on bells and glockenspiels. The Senior Room followed with a performance of “Helicopter Ride” on the bucket drums.

A touching moment came when the whole school sang “Peace, Peace” while the Senior Pupils accompanied them playing “Silent Night” on glockenspiels. The harmony of voices and instruments was enchanting. Next came a standout solo: a talented 6th class pupil performed “Little Donkey” on the recorder. The students and audience joined her in song—turning the hall into a chorus of community and Christmas cheer. The excitement continued as pupils swirled on stage with a joyful scarf dance to “Here Comes the Snow”, their bright scarves and brighter smiles lighting up the room.
For the grand finale, everyone was on their feet learning the dance to “Feliz Navidad.” And of course, no Christmas celebration is complete without a special guest. Santa himself arrived to greet the children, spreading cheer before parents finished the evening with a warm cuppa and festive treats. It was, without doubt, a wonderful night for the Bigstone community, a celebration of talent, teamwork and the joy of coming together. Despite the challenges, the show truly did go on and it shone brighter than ever.
