Killoughternane art group exhibition this weekend

KILLOUGHTERNANE Art Group will hold its annual summer exhibition in Killoughternane old school, six miles from Borris, opening at 6pm this Saturday, 18 July, and continuing on Sunday from noon to 6pm.

The group, which meets weekly in the old school at the foothills of Mount Leinster, draws its members from Borris and surrounding areas. Working in a shared studio rather than through formal classes, the artists are facilitated throughout the year by Clonegal-based artist Moira McCaffery.

This year’s exhibition features work by 15 contributing artists: Norah Hawkins, Lesley Briggs, Cornelia McCarthy, Tina Kavanagh, Andrew Kavanagh, Anne Sundermann, Amanda Pitcairn, Emma Jane Champley, Caroline Murphy, Seamus Moginie, Christabel Blackman, Frank O’Connell, Nesta FitzGerald, Alexandra Fitzherbert and Sean Hardie.

The group has thanked the Education and Training Board (ETB) for its support of the spring classes.
