“It’s a free timed run for everyone, walkers and runners. We always have a volunteer tail walker so no-one is ever last,” encouraged Myles Balfe, event director of Tullow Park Run.

“Some people are here for the stroll, to catch up with friends and the coffee afterwards. The social element of it and the opportunity for people to get outdoors and be active, that’s what it’s all about,” he added.

Tullow Park Run takes place at Rathwood Forest Walk every Saturday morning at 9.30am. “The venue is very special, you’re in the woods, there’s no cars, it's safe for children and it’s open to people of all ages,” said Myles.

Myles praised the wonderful team of volunteers that help out every week, from marshalling to timing, tail walkers and race directors, Tullow Park Run is very much a team effort.

Rathwood also very kindly supported the 300th run by making a cake for the occasion along with teas and coffees for all participants. Myles also thanked Carlow Sports Partnership for its support and encouraged everyone to come along every Saturday morning.

“Rain, hail or shine, we’ll be there, it’s all about participation and inclusiveness,” he added.
