Always a great time at the annual BBQ

THE food was deliciously fresh, the conversation flowed and the banter too when the Carlow branch of Irish Wheelchair Association hosted its annual barbecue in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel recently.

“The food was great, the hotel did a great job and the music was just perfect. Michael Horohan and his son Paul played and they went down really well. You could listen to them and have a chat at the same time,” remarked committee member Ollie Dowling.

The finest of meat was cooked outside by the hotel chefs and was served with fresh salad in one of the function rooms, where about 30 guests ate, chatted and mingled.

The Irish Wheelchair Association has been hosting the barbecue for years and this year Ollie helped to organise it after volunteering to be a committee member.

“Jack Doyle, the chairman of the association, asked me if I was interested in getting involved with them and I wanted to do something for the community, so I said yes,” said Ollie.
