CELEBRATION, pride and community spirit were the key ingredients in Coláiste Eoin, Hacketstown as students, staff and parents gathered for the school awards ceremony.
Awards were presented for academic achievement, attendance, sport, music, leadership, wellbeing, inclusion, community involvement and extra-curricular activities.
Principal Alan Costello spoke about the importance of teamwork and highlighted that every achievement is the result of the combined efforts of students, teachers, coaches, families and the wider school community. Mr Costello also acknowledged the dedication, resilience and commitment shown by students throughout the year in all areas of school life.
The event highlighted the enormous range of talent in the school community and recognised students who consistently demonstrate hard work, kindness, leadership and school spirit. Students were praised not only for their achievements in the classroom but also for the positive contribution they make to everyday life in Coláiste Eoin.

The female sports person of the year award was presented to Lilly Murphy, who has achieved remarkable success as a member of the Ireland U18 women’s rugby team, where she proudly wears the #3 jersey.
Lilly is also a wonderful ambassador for rugby at Coláiste Eoin and has played an important role in helping to promote tag rugby in the school community. Her commitment, determination and sporting success were recognised and celebrated by all in attendance.
Among the special awards presented was the male sports person of the year award, which was awarded to sixth-year student Mark Kinsella in recognition of his outstanding sporting achievements. Mark has represented his school, club and county with distinction in hurling and football and has also played soccer for the school.
Special recognition was also given to students involved in sport, debating, student enterprise, the arts, leadership roles and a wide variety of school activities which continue to strengthen the vibrant and inclusive school community in Coláiste Eoin.
The ceremony reflected the school ethos of being a ‘small school with a big heart,’ encouraging students to value effort, perseverance, teamwork and respect for others, alongside academic success.
Thanks was extended to the staff who contributed to the smooth running of the ceremony, particularly Nessa O'Meara for the tremendous work involved in organising such a memorable event.
Congratulations to all students who received awards and to all those who continue to contribute so positively to school life at Coláiste Eoin.
