Passengers shouldn't be left standing at the side of the road

There have been calls for a bus stop to be provided in Ardattin
ADEQUATE transport services across Co Carlow was raised as a priority at the first meeting of Carlow County Council recently.
Cllr Will Paton brought forward a notice of motion calling on Transport for Ireland to provide a bus stop at Ardattin village. Cllr Paton noted the proposed new bus route by Transport for Ireland from Gorey to Carlow A67 and stated that members of Carlow County Council should request TFI to provide a bus stop in Ardattin.
The motion was seconded by cllr William Quinn and supported by all members.
Cllr Michael Doran remarked that this motion “pertained to a lot of areas in the county” and it was important that the council's Transport SPC look at it and provide bus stops where required.
Cllr Jim Deane agreed that this was a very important issue, adding that we were “way behind other counties” in terms of this provision. “It’s very important in this day and age – look at all the other countries in Europe – and we still have people standing by the side of the road,” cllr Deane argued.
Cllr Andrea Dalton remarked that it was particularly relevant in rural Co Carlow, with many travelling into Carlow as a university town.
Cllr Paul Doogue referred to Carlow Town Bus Park and people with left with no shelter from the elements. “It should be something that is looked at,” he remarked.
