Carlow Little Theatre Society marking 80th anniversary
Hollywood actor, Patrick Bergin will launch the society's book on Thursday evening
Carlow Little Theatre Society is celebrating its 80th anniversary by releasing a book, written by members of the society, about the group’s history.
The society are holding a book launch at Carlow County Library on Tullow Street tomorrow, Thursday 4 December at 7.30pm.
The book features photos and stories of productions since the society’s founding in 1945. The foreword is by actor Patrick Bergin, best known for starring alongside Julia Roberts in 1991’s and as Aidan Maguire in .
His father Paddy Bergin was one of the society’s founding members. Former president Micheal D Higgins has written the book’s introduction after taking great interest in the society because of his lifelong support of the arts and culture.
Alongside publishing this book, the society will be hosting a ticketed dinner to celebrate its 80th anniversary on 24 January at the Seven Oaks Hotel. Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite, contacting Mark Cradock at 087 2237198 or emailing carlowlittletheatre@gmail.com.
The society will be running readings for their next show by John B Keane at the Cathedral Parish Centre tonight, Wednesday 3 December at 7.30pm and at Club D’art on 6 December at 10.30am.
