Bagenalstown festive swim committee present cheque to Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team 

VETERAN water safety and swimming instructor, Mary Foster recently presented a cheque to a very worthy cause after the money was raised by an annual Christmas swim and walk. 

Mary, with the help of a dedicated committee, has been organising the festive event for years in Bagenalstown when brave swimmers dive into the River Barrow in the middle of winter! Unfortunately, the icy plunge was cancelled last Christmas because the river was in flood and was deemed too dangerous to risk it. Participants had to make do with a brisk walk instead, still managing to raise €1,850 for the Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team.
