Trinity professor to lecture on industry history in Carlow

CARLOW Historical and Archaeological Society (CHAS) will host a guest lecture by Trinity College professor Dr Frank Barry on the history of industry in Carlow and the south-east on Wednesday 20 May at 8pm in the Seven Oaks hotel, where Dr Barry will speak about the historic industries, firms and factories of Carlow and the south-east between 1922 and 1972.
Dr Barry is a professor emeritus of international business and economic development at Trinity College Dublin and is a member of the Royal Irish Academy. His monograph on was published by Oxford University Press in 2023.
The lecture will draw on the vast database of historic manufacturing firms and factories that Dr Barry assembled as background research for the book.
