Step Into Spring – All roads lead to Carlow for the 2025 Walking Festival

Carlow Walking Festival
Step into a weekend of fresh air, wildflowers, and unforgettable views at the Carlow Spring Walking Festival taking place this Saturday 26 April 26th and Sunday 27 April. With bluebells in bloom, birdsong in the woods and the fresh scent of spring air—experience nature’s full awakening in Carlow’s most scenic spots.
With over 10 expertly guided walks across two days, this year’s programme has a walk for every pace and passion – from mindfulness walks through Altamont Gardens and Clogrennan Wood, to mountain top adventures on the Blackstairs, Mount Leinster and along sections of the South Leinster Way.

Each walk is graded by duration and difficulty, ensuring an enjoyable and safe experience for all participants. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast eager to learn about local biodiversity, a history buff wanting to discover more about the heritage of the Blackstairs, a seasoned hiker seeking fresh air and adventure, or someone simply in search of mindfulness in a serene setting, this festival is a celebration of spring in one of Ireland’s best-kept outdoor secrets.

Discover the history of ancient trails, stone-walled farmsteads, and the rich heritage of the River Barrow and Blackstairs Mountains with expert local guides. Join wellness walks through serene woodlands and peaceful gardens. Practice mindfulness in nature and leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded.
Each walk concludes with a warm Carlow welcome – homemade soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee – giving participants the chance to relax and reflect on their walk together.
