SAINT Leo’s College transition year students are running their annual musical from Wednesday to Friday, 22-24 April, with this year’s show being the much-loved High School Musical, which first hit the screens in 2006.

The musical will feature all transition year students in the school, who have been working hard on rehearsals over the last few months, and will be directed by Roisin Currid.

The musical will be co-ordinated by Áine Shiels, Veronica Doyle and Angela Kirwan, with costume design by Laura Dowling, while Áine Cosgrave is the musical director.

High School Musical centres on Troy Bolton, the school’s star basketball player, and Gabriella Montez, a brilliant but reserved new student.

After unexpectedly singing together at a New Year’s Eve karaoke party, they discover they’ll be attending the same high school. Drawn to each other and to performing, they secretly try out for the school musical, shaking up their friends and the school’s rigid social circle.

As they navigate their growing feelings, their commitment and Sharpay’s scheming jealousy, Troy and Gabriella learn to follow their dreams, even when others don’t expect them to.

Tickets for the show can be purchased online via Visual’s website or by contacting the box office on 059 9172400. See www.visualcarlow.ie for more.
