Singer with Carlow connections in Scraggs

Singer songwriter Seán Collins

A SINGER-songwriter with strong Carlow credentials will launch his debut single A Step Into The Dark and perform in Scraggs Alley, Tullow Street this Friday night, 2 May.

Seán Collins from Donabate in north Co Dublin is the son of Carlow native Geraldine Browne, originally from Ballinacarraig, Carlow, making Seán the grandson of former Fine Gael TD and principal of Bennekerry NS, the late John Browne and his wife Nancy and the nephew of cllr Fergal Browne.

Seán’s debut single A Step Into The Dark is a stirring introduction: a heartfelt reflection on the vulnerability of falling in love, delivered with a quiet strength that lingers long after the final note.  If you are a fan of artists like Amble, Kingfishr, and Ye Vagabonds, this song is sure to resonate.

Having spent the past four years honing his craft on stages across Dublin and beyond – from the streets of New York and London to the historic Olympia Theatre in Dublin – Seán brings a seasoned, soulful presence to every performance, capturing audiences with the honesty of his lyrics and his heartfelt melodies.

Growing up surrounded by Irish traditional music, Seán blends traditional Irish elements with modern acoustic folk to fuse his own unique style, inspired by artists of the past and of the present.

He is delighted to launch his debut single in Carlow and is sure to have lots of familiar faces in the audience, including family and friends of the Browne family.

Tickets (€12) are available from www.eventbrite.com and doors open at 8.30pm.
