Memorial walk for Andrea on Saturday in Ballon

A 5km walk in memory of Andrea Zerafa will take place on Saturday, 1 August at 10am, departing from her shop Zerafas Centra, Ballon.
Her husband Stephen Rooney said the walk will raise money for Waterford hospice and Éist Cancer Support Centre, Carlow, who “went above and beyond” to take care of Andrea while she was ill. Andrea died on 29 July 2025.
“It’s hugely important that their services continue to provide the same level of care to other people in Carlow and the south-east, if and when it’s needed,” Stephen wrote on the GoFundMe page.
“Andrea was a huge supporter of the Action Breast Cancer initiative and, along with her Centra team, they organised many successful fundraising walks in Ballon over the years. It seems fitting to try to continue in the same path, but to also do something a little bit unique just for her,” he continued.
The fundraiser has already raised over €5,300. You can donate by bringing cash on the day or through the link here to the GoFundMe page.
Leaving from Centra, participants will walk or run a 5km loop around the area and back to the shop for refreshments.
